The story of stuff reflection
Before watching this video, I never knew what people go through or what people have to do to get the products made for me to buy and what happens after we finish using them. After watching the video, I learned that stuff goes through a big process from cradle to grave (extraction, production, distribution, consumption, disposal). The extraction phase requires the exploitation of other country resources. The production phase is when people put chemicals into our products. The distribution phase shows that there is more to the product than you think. The disposal phase taught me that the stuff goes through incineration releasing a dangerous toxin in our air, dioxin. I think that going cutting down 2000 trees/minute and exploiting resources from other countries is just not worth the product. The production phase of stuff really got me thinking, why are people putting all these toxins and chemicals in our stuff in the first place? What we should do, instead of doing the cradle to death, is do cradle to cradle, so we stop exploiting the other countries resources, prevent more pollution in the air, and prevent climate change.
